Photographer’s Note: Most people think of Death Valley as a baren landscape, but in fact it is one of the most beautiful National Parks in America with incredibly diverse landscapes spanning the park’s lands. I took this photo late in the day in the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes when the sun was low and the shadows long. I chose to include my shadow in the image to add some playfulness in a very serious desert landscape and to provide some context for the vast scope of the sand dunes in this area.
